Another Day at the OTHER beach

We went down to S.H. Beach this afternoon after swim lessons because it was over 80 degrees today--definitely a day to get some sun. Plus,I thought that both B&B would enjoy playing in the biggest sandbox they have ever seen and maybe even find some shells! :) This park/beach is really close by and I thought I could find it easily, but for ONCE my GPS failed me! It took me to a residential area claiming that was the park I was looking for. EHHHH (imagine annoying buzzer sound from a game show) WRONG!

Just as I was about to throw my GPS out the window, I realized I needed rescuing from my husband. He looked a few things up for me and ended up with the same address as I started with. So, he helped me find a solution, and by following that address, it led me directly to the park and the beach. THe kiddos were able to sneak in a 40 minute nap while their crazy mom was driving around trying to navigate using her own sense of direction. That, (surprise surprise) did not pan out. But, as I mentioned earlier, daddy came to the rescue and helped guide us to the beach. This was a beautiful beach: sandy, lots of driftwood to sit on or rest up against, beautiful, low tide and water. I only wish I was not by myself this trip with the two kiddos for multiple reasons.

1. Baylen was grumpy because he didn't get his full nap in prior to beach. He wanted nothing to do with the beach except sitting in my lap sans crocs.

2. Brynn wanted to venture out on the shore a bit more, but because Baylen wanted to stay put, we just sat in our little area and scooped sand and snapped a few pictures.

3. I had too much sh** with me to take two toddlers out to the shore...although the beach was not that busy, I could not trust that our stuff would be safe.

4. Baylen weighs 28 pounds+walking with 2 bags and a picnic blanket+walking in sand=heavy lifting to take all the way down near the tide. If he would have been in a better mood, he would have walked with us, but we weren't so lucky today. My arms were already feeling noodle-like not only from lugging him down to our "marked spot," but also because I am on day 5 of the 30-day shred workout.

Despite the obstacles, we did have a nice time just sitting on our blanket and enjoying the sunshine and adding a bit more color to our pasty Seattle skin. Baylen spent most of his time in my lap playing with Brynn's monkey backpack while Brynn spent most of hers scooping sand in her bucket and having random conversations with me. She is really into watching Dora and Diego right now and said this to me yesterday: "Mommy, when we go to the other beach tomorrow, we gotta watch out for Swiper the fox!" LOL I about lost it! (Swiper is a fox who "swipes" things from Dora and her friends in the one show she watches every morning at the crack of dawn on OnDemand.) She really thinks he exists. Soooo cute!

This pretty much sums up how Baylen felt while we were at the beach. He's teething right now too, so he's been a little more cranky than normal.

You're brave to go it alone with two little ones!

You are brave to go with them. I would love to take Tyler to a beach, but we will have to settle for the pool :)

Brynn's little imagination is hilarious :) We're big fans of OnDemand (and it's free) too.
