AMA's

Did you see the American Music Awards? If so, what did you think of Adam Lambert's performance? Racy? yes. Edgy? definitely. But in all seriousness, it pushes the envelope just as much as Britney Spears, Madonna, and even Lady Gaga. So why are people up in arms? My opinion: b/c he's male and gay.

well, I guess I watched him and thought it was more provocative than the other performers you mentioned at least for an awards show. I literally said to ryan, 'did he just rub that mans face all up in his junk?' to which he replied, 'yes, yes he did'. I just think awards shows tend to be more family friendly and that was not so G rated. I don't know, it's nothing to freak out over in my mind but I imagine that is why others are making a big deal of it. In my mind, I ccould care less if he is gay, I just thought it was poor taste.

Sam: I agree I think it was a bit tasteless esp. for his debut. I didn't see the oral sex thing until later last night on You Tube--we didn't get that live on TV they must have edited it out. That was a bit over the top. But I still think many artists are pushing the envelope these days moreso than ever before in performances and song lyrics...i.e.: Britney Spears's song 1,2,3 about having a threesome. LOL

I dunno I guess I just am thinking back to the VMA's in 1984 when Madonna was rolling around humping the stage, or in 2003 when Britney Madonna and Xtina were making out on stage. And the camera was purposely panning out to the audience to catch "reactions"

I don't think that it was in good taste by any stretch of the imagination, but I do feel that sometimes there is a double standard by which a female performer doing provocative actions (wearing clothing that leaves nothing to the imagination, grabbing/fondling private parts, implied masturbation, etc. etc. Heck I think Madonna even pioneered alot of the S&M and other things in her performances) is considered artistic license, but a male doing the same things is considered x-rated or them trying to impose their lifestyle on others.

Personally I was a lot more troubled by Lada GaGa's performance of Paparazzi with all the blood and then finishes the performance with her "hanging" herself...

People seem to have a lot easier time dealing with violence than sexuality.... especially from males IMO ie. Elvis, Jim Morrison etc... Just my 2 cents...
