Baylenisms #5

This kid is funny. He's high maintenance. He's full of energy. He drinks his beverage as soon as he sits down--the ENTIRE thing. Then he wants more. He's loud. He's sweet. He's loud. He's sort of a bully. He plays hard. When he dances, 99% of the time, he ends up flailing uncontrollably all over the floor.

Things that have come out of this almost-3-year-old's mouth:

A. "I can do whatever I want."

B. "I go big poop in the potty. It's huge."

C. "I can eat a lot a lot of food."

D. "Sarah! I'm going with Daddy." (So glad he refers to me by my first name all of a sudden.) :)

E. After eating a HUGE meal, he lifted up his shirt and said, "Look at my tummy. It's so big."

F. "Can I watch my iPod? I want the Tractor Tipping." (scene from the Cars movie)

G. "Let's name him Butt."

H. "Poopy pants. Poopy Butt" (he tries to get away with saying this at the table every once in awhile)

Yes, even I want to cry sometimes!

Mister Mister is having a hard time going to bed at night. I specifically remember Brynn having this same issue around this age, but honestly, it feels more exhausting with him. Maybe it's because he's the second child and we are busier right now with school, jobs, and new responsibilities. Maybe it's because he's just a bad sleeper. Maybe it's because he can't wind down. I don't know how to help him get to sleep. He used to be our best one to go right to sleep. I don't know what other tricks to try to get him to go to sleep. He gets out of bed at least three times and each time we take him right back up. Sometimes he thinks it is funny but by the third time, he knows we're not happy. He is staying up until 9, sometimes even 10! :( While I don't think his naps are longer than normal at daycare, I am trying to figure out what is happening. It seems like ever since the time change, it's been much harder to get him to go to bed. Perhaps this is a phase? A growth spurt? As a result, frustrations occur nightly at our house.

Baptism

I am behind on my posts from Iowa, but we were able to celebrate and witness Jackson's baptism while back in IA. It was a fun, yet busy day.

Wedding Bells

My sister is getting married so that means we get to start trying on bridesmaids dresses! Whoohoo! Now that I have much less of a chest, I vote for the short dress although I love the one shoulder look. I guess we'll have to wait and see what Mary wants to pick or try on. There are lots and lots of cute dress links she's sent, so there are more options to try. Can't wait!

Poor Mister Mister!

Mister Mister was injured at daycare on Thursday. Dj called me and texted me and emailed me and so did our daycare director. Such is the life of a teacher who can't check her phone and sometimes email when teaching a class. That is definitely not good when your child gets hurt or is sick. I don't have a direct line to my classroom, so it's a bit inconvenient.

Regardless, let's talk about who matters here...MISTER! He was pushing a cart or a bike and tripped over his own feet (a common occurrence) while playing outside. Apparently he fell hard because he ended up scraping some fingers on one hand and on the other, it was much worse; he ended up cutting his fingernail in half...literally. Poor guy! I picked him up on Thursday and just gave him all of the sympathy he wanted. He was whining and wanted lots of love, so I gave him that and more.

We were finally able to convince him to let us remove his original band-aid and clean it up a bit and put on a new one. It was so swollen and looked so sore. :( Today, he seems a bit better and is using that hand more, although I bet it's still sore. Dj was able to pour some Hydrogen Peroxide on it and it really foamed up, so we knew it was starting to get infected. He took it like a champ (surprisingly) and hopefully that will allow us to clean it more often until the nail falls off. :(

I honestly don't know how this happened but he really must have fallen hard. The pictures above are nothing compared to what it looked like a couple of days ago...it looked pretty terrible.

Take a Picture of me, Mommy!

I hear this constantly. Miss poser wants me to take pictures of her all of the time. It's pretty funny. I get all sorts of poses, mostly dance-like.

Brynnisms #21

So funny...

I was sitting on the couch tonight finishing up my homework assignment for my Master's class this week. Brynn walks up to me and hands me a little pink tea cup..

Brynn: Here ya go mom, here's your Bud Light!

Me...(looking at Dj who is smirking): Ohhh thank you, I was thirsty! How did you know?

Brynn: Yeah, it's a little cup of Bud Light so tell me if you want more.

LMAO
Oh Dear...it reminds me of something funny I saw earlier today when I was looking at Cade's food pyramid and he had glued wine at the top of the pyramid in the "unhealthy" section...hahahaha

Kids are so smart.

They are inseparable

So last night, these two children of mine decided they did not want to go to sleep. We put them in bed a little later than normal around 8:30 p.m. They were both still awake at 9:42 p.m. YES you read that one correctly. I was downstairs working on some school stuff and Dj was upstairs working on "work stuff". Low and behold, he hears some noise so he walks into their bedroom and both of them are laying in the same bed! Baylen is laying next to Brynn and they are just giggling. Dj tells Baylen to get back into bed sternly and reminds them they will have to get up early in the morning to go to school. Minutes later, they are asleep.

Tonight at dinner, I had this conversation with them.

Me: Now, you two look at me.

They both look at me with their cute little "What did we do?" looks

Me: You two need to promise me that you are going to go right to sleep tonight when you lay in bed. You're not going to get out of your bed, Baylen, and you are going to go to sleep.

B2: Okay Mommy.

Me: I mean it. You need to get your rest. That means you need to sleep in your own beds and not sleep in the same bed.

At that exact moment they both look at each other and just giggle and giggle and I smile at them and laugh with them. They both gave me that look like, "How did you know, mom?" :) It was cute.

Brynn: (matter-of-factly): But mom, we just wanted you to see us sleeping in the same bed. And Baylen wanted to snuggle with me.

Nelson and uh..Nelson

Can you tell who is who?!

Yes my son wanted to wear the wig. As soon as he I put it on him, he was giggling hysterically and running around yelling, "I'm Wah-Punzel!" LOL Dj and I were cracking up and we both agreed he looked like an 80's hair band dude, AKA one of the Nelson twins. Ahhh this child is such a ham!

Ahhh I Love Teaching

I received this message in my inbox today from a former student I had seven years ago. :)

Miss Fitz,
I wanted to write to you and tell you that I feel that your methods of teaching, and your free-spirited Journalism class really developed my skills as a writer. I am recieving compliments on my style of writing and formatting. So, again thank you Miss Fitzpatrick, my passion for writing was sparked by your passion.

P.S. I am in an advanced college composition class due to my essay I compiled; a newspaper article :)

Ahhh it totally made my day. ;) Thanks, Shannon!

Rapunzel lives at our house now

Yes she does. And have you seen how beautiful her hair is? It's so amazingly silky and...long. She kept asking for the Rapunzel hair for Christmas and when she opened it, she was super excited. But after we opened it, she wouldn't wear it. When it came in one of the boxes I reminded her it was in there and she about flipped and asked me to open it again so she could wear it. She was just giggling and giggling and so was Baylen. Baylen then chanted, "I wanna wear it!" So...guess what the next post will be about?!

Brynnisms #20-something

This morning, Baylen was throwing his usual tantrum b/c he didn't want to get out of bed. Dj was trying to convince him nicely to get up,

Brynn walked over looked at him, kinda shook her head, then looked at Dj and said,

"He's having a rough morning, Daddy."

Getting Professional

A few months back, a friend of a friend contacted me asking me if I'd be interested in swapping some bows for professional pics that I could put up on my Etsy site. Of course, I said yes. I made some bows for her and she took pics with little girls wearing them and then sent me the CD so I could use them on my site, but also promote her business. It's a win-win situation. She took several pics and I hope to send her another batch soon so I can get another set of pictures to use on my site. :) She takes wonderful pictures and maybe one day, I'll ask her to take our family's.

Poop for Christmas?

Most people might grimace at the title, but I'll take it. When we arrived in Iowa, Baylen suddenly decided that he would start going #2 in the potty. Could this mean the end of poopy pull-ups and poopy underwear? I sure hope so! A couple of months ago, I purchased a big push Ambulance that lights up and makes sounds and told Baylen if he pooped all of the time in the potty, he could get that ambulance. When he saw it, his eyes lit up and he asked to open it. For days, he assured me that he was going to go poopy in the potty. That thing has been sitting on our mantle forever. Every day, Bay would ask me, "Mommy, can I have that ambulance?" And each day, I would tell him he could have it if he started pooping in the toilet.

It all happened when we were sitting in the living room chatting and the kids were playing. Out of nowhere, Baylen stood up and said, "Daddy! I need to go poop!" He ran to the bathroom and Dj quickly followed, even though he was feeling a lack of confidence b/c we've gone through this numerous times, all ending in no poop in the potty and instead, lots in his underwear. Low and behold, he asked his dad for "Pwrivacy" so Dj stepped out and he POOPED! Of course we did the poop in the potty dance, song, cheered, jumped up and down, screamed and laughed. He was the king of the world! With his birthday 3 months away, we felt very proud, although it re-affirmed that he's getting older and that second children definitely seem to grow up so much faster. I think as parents, we want things to get easier, but once they do, we are quickly reminded that some of those "baby years" are behind us and they are seeking more independence, which is not necessarily what we want, either. Needless to say, we've had numerous successful trips to the potty that resulted in flushing down a #2. Thank God! Merry Christmas to us! Baylen, this is the best gift ever!

And what do you think he asked immediately after he went #2? "Daddy, can I have that ambulance now?" :)
