I received this message in my inbox today from a former student I had seven years ago. :)

Miss Fitz,
I wanted to write to you and tell you that I feel that your methods of teaching, and your free-spirited Journalism class really developed my skills as a writer. I am recieving compliments on my style of writing and formatting. So, again thank you Miss Fitzpatrick, my passion for writing was sparked by your passion.

P.S. I am in an advanced college composition class due to my essay I compiled; a newspaper article :)
